To celebrate my birthday, I met my husband for lunch at Aureole during the week while the kids were in school. There was something luxurious and self-indulgent about meeting in the afternoon on a weekday. I had never been there before although this restaurant has been here for 20 years. The ambiance of Aureole is very relaxing and pleasurable. The flower arrangements are breathtaking.
And the window treatment with a scene of butterflies is very striking.
Of course, there are iced tea refills with all the accoutrements, and excellent iced tea at that!
Everything I ordered was truly exceptional, and on your birthday, you HAVE to order dessert!
There are even beautiful flower arrangements in the ladies' room.

I just read an article about the Donut Plant (healthy donuts?). Their flagship location is on Grand St. but they sell their donuts at 40 locations around NY and are opening a shop in DC in October.
Have you heard about it?
P.S. I dragged the carpool to TangySweet and they hated it--the yogurt wasn't sweet enough and there were only 3 flavors! I actually liked the fresh blueberries with the yogurt topping but I don't think we'll be going back there any time soon.
