Best Use of a Dollar in 2008

Egg Mayo, $1 at Benoit

What a great way to begin your repast! Every item my companions and I tasted at Benoit was superfabulously delicious. With a bread basket comes another basket of parmesan puffs, two puffs for each person at the table. You are only fooling yourself if you think you can eat just one. The portions are generous, and the prices reasonable for the special food you are receiving. The Cobb Salad is like no other I've had, and for $15, it was a meal. On another occasion, I had the prix fixe lunch, and chose a pasta dish as my entree; it melted in my mouth; I am still thinking about it, and wish it were a regular item on the menu.

Benoit gets out of 3 glasses of iced tea because of the great combination of service, value, and quality.

I'd Like to Introduce You to Sarka Siskova

This is Sarka Siskova. She is standing next to a dress she designed, currently in the exhibition Seduction at The Museum at FIT. Seduction explores the role of sexuality in fashion, and will be on display until June 16, 2009. The exhibition consists of 70 looks dating from the mid-1700's to the present.

Sarka had a fashion presentation on December 16, 2009 at the Czech Center which I was lucky enough to attend. Here are my blurry, but beautiful photographs from the presentation.

The final look was this smashing red dress, the ultimate grand exit.

Jessie Murphy in the Woods in Concert

Last night as I was fitting Jessie, Amy and Marcia, they showed me their band's logo. It was pretty eerie that the silhouettes I had created for them were so similar to the ones on their logo, talk about the alignment of the stars.

Photos from Tonight's Performance at the American Folk Art Museum

These looks are still works in progress; I will keep you posted as the dresses unfold.

In the Woods with Jessie Murphy

Amy Corso, Jessie Murphy, and Marcia Webb of Jessie Murphy in the Woods

Mission: To come up with and execute a concept for a stage wardrobe for Jessie Murphy in the Woods

To give you a taste of the band's music is We are the Ones.

The first accessory is completed. The concept in development is the idea of the band tumbling through a black and white forest or "woods", and the idea of beauty in imperfection and darkness.

The rest of the ingredients are being mixed and manipulated: Ts and skirts from American Apparel, tutus, safety pins, ribbons and felt. Stay tuned...
