Color Blocking is Classic

Piet Mondrian made this painting in 1930. Today this image is iconic. Can this piece of art go out of style? A rhetorical question, but I think not.

In the August, 2010 issue of Harper's Bazaar, the Color Blocked is said to be "on the outs".

Store the Color Blocked?
Really?

However, two pages earlier, VIBRANT is touted, with many great examples of color blocking.

Classics are enduring, and cannot be touched by the vagaries or contradictions of the so-called "fashion elite".

Michelle's Slightly Evolving Style

Narciso Rodriguez Spring, 2009 Runway

Is the dress great? You bet!

Is the way Michelle is wearing it as superfab as it could be? Unfortunately, NO.

Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, Election Night

Why Michelle has to preppify everything with either a cardigan or pearls, I'm not sure. This dress looks like an animal in a cage as worn by Mrs. Obama. The dress is fierce, but is made to look dowdy and prim by the black cardigan and dainty diamond earrings - Lose Them!

Here are the accessories that should accompany this great dress:

Lucifer Vir Honestus or Ileana Makri Earrings

or Cristina Rotondaro Earrings

A High and a Low Shoe Choice
Bottega Veneta or Pierre Hardy

or BCBGirls or Givenchy, if Michelle really feels like living on the edge...

or Jean Schlumberger Earrings from Tiffany, How can you go wrong?

Your thoughts?

Real vs. Deal

Pierre Hardy has been making this style boot since at least 2006; it has come in great colors such as gray leather, gray suede, white leather, black patent, dark brown leather, etc. He is still making this boot, thank G_d!

Pierre Hardy Boot, 215 British Pounds which is about $367

Chocolat Blu Boot, $200 at Jubilee on Third Avenue at 76th Street in New York

At least, Chocolat Blu has an excellent sole model!

You Don't have to Spend Superfabulously to Look Superfab

You can look superfabulous without spending a bundle! You just have to know where to shop. Good places to go are H&M, Gap, Old Navy, Forever 21, Uniqlo, and Zara. When you shop in these stores, it is very important to check the garments carefully. Look at how the pattern matches up at the seams, the stitching, and the details such as buttons and other closures to make sure they are not cheap looking.

Here are many superfabulous items under $55:

The shoes below are under $100, and were designed by Pierre Hardy for Gap:

Happy Shopping!
