Delfina Delettrez is Delightfully Dark

I have been searching for Delfina Delettrez's jewelry for almost a year now. When I went on her website over the summer of 2008, Bergdorf Goodman was listed as a place to find her jewels. However, after visiting Bergdorf's and asking about the whereabouts of these jewels, I was met with blank stares and sent to various disappointingly empty (of Delfina Delettrez) jewelry displays.

The images of her jewelry on style.com charmed me at first sight. Her designs are macabre with a wink and disturbingly beautiful.

Well, lucky for me, I finally found them - in South Beach of all places - on Lincoln Road, at Alchemist.

It was love at first sight. Fortunately, I was very limited due to extremely small wrists and ring size! Even with these limitations, I was able to do enough damage; I left with a bracelet and necklace.

Candy for the Eyes and Soul

Rings: Green Frog with Crown, $1,395, Red Frog, $965, and Golden Hand, $725

Eye Bracelets, $955 and $5,475 respectively

Alchemist has a wonderfully edited selection of clothes, shoes, and handbags. In addition to Delfina Delettrez, some of the other designers represented are Dries van Noten, Alaia, Clu, Ann Demeulemeester, Lucien Pellat Finet, Jil Sander, Martin Margiela, Givenchy, Rick Owens, Dior Homme, Comme des Garcons, and Repetto.

Maxfield's in LA also carries DD's jewels. If you are not in LA or Miami, LuisaviaRoma.com carries her jewelry, although the prices are in Euros.

You will catch me very much alive in her jewels!

Real vs. Deal

There is nothing like wearing the real thing, but with things the way they are in the world, it's insane to think about spending $2,300 on a pair of shoes.

$2,300 can buy 300 long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets, 500 packets of high energy biscuits specifically for malnourished children in emergency situations, 350 doses of the measles vaccine, 100 HIV/AIDs rapid diagnostic test kits suitable for children over 18 months old, 5 double-sided chalkboards, 10 chalkboard dusters, 500 white chalk sticks and 500 colored chalk sticks when donated to Unicef, just food for thought.
