Join the Mob

I am.

Normally, I'm not a proponent of blended in or following what the group is doing.

But Mob dancing is the exception, especially when it is adding something positive to the world.

Every hour, on the hour from 1 pm until 4 pm, Colleen and her entourage will be dancing at Disorient Point (Picnic Point) on Governors Island. Between performances, the FIGMENT festival can be enjoyed, the dance can be taught to bystanders, and hanging out in general is encouraged. Come to all or part of it. Whatever you can.

At noon on Governors Island, the Group will meet at Disorient Point. At that time, the dance will be taught to all who cannot make Thursday's rehearsal, and as many bystanders as possible will be encouraged to partcipate.

Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 6 pm
At Fifth Avenue and 79th Street (SW corner), Colleen and whoever wants to participate (Krom is going) will enter Central Park and work in a nearby area. If you want to join in the fun, you can call Colleen (917.855.1206) to RSVP. She will put the dance on youtube, and send out a link so it can be learned by those who are unable to attend the rehearsal.

Colleen's mob dance is part of FIGMENT.

FIGMENT
It’s a free, annual celebration of participatory art and culture where everything is possible. For one weekend each summer, it transforms Governors Island into a large-scale collaborative artwork… and then it’s gone.

FIGMENT is taking place,
Friday, June 11th, 10 am until 4 pm,
Saturday, June 12th, 10 am until 6 pm,
and Sunday, June 13th, 10 am until 6 pm.

Governors Island is a free, short ferry-ride from lower Manhattan and Brooklyn!

Manhattan Ferries

Free ferries run between Manhattan and Governors Island on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Manhattan ferries leave from the Battery Maritime Building (10 South Street) in Lower Manhattan.

Brooklyn Ferries

Free ferries run between Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park and Governors Island on Saturdays and Sundays. The ferry ride is a quick three minutes, so ferry service runs continuously. Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 6 is located at the foot of Atlantic Avenue.

There is no Friday ferry service from Brooklyn.

FIGMENT has selected 15 wonderfully creative, interactive, and sustainable sculpture projects that (contingent on funding and approvals) will find a temporary home in the 2010 Sculpture Garden on Governors Island.

The FIGMENT Mini-Golf Course will be open for the public at no cost while the island is open, Fridays, from 10 am until 4 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 am until 6 pm, from June 11th through October 3rd. The FIGMENT Mini-Golf Course returns this year with 11 holes, nine new ones and an encore of two of the favorite holes from previous years. This year, the course is built around a World’s Fair theme – the platform where the state of the art in science, technology and issues of humankind from around the world were brought together.

I guess there is such a thing as a free ride.

The best things in life are free.

U r 24K!

Krom
