2011 Golden Globe Guide

Pouf, frippery, sparkle and shoulder pads were ubiquitous at the Golden Globes, and that wasn't necessarily a good thing.

The actresses who kept it simple eclipsed those who decided to go over-the-top.

Emma Stone wore it best in a backless Calvin Klein Collection dress.

January Jones, the face of Versace, sported a gown by the Italian fashion house.

Mila Kunis donned an emerald-green one-shoulder gown, custom made by Vera Wang.

Claire Danes chose a fabulous pink Calvin Klein Collection gown.

The men who went old school got my attention.

Jake did it best!

Hugh Laurie is in da house!

Not into the shawl collar, but Matt Bomer can get away with pretty much anything as far as I'm concerned.

This handbag was calling my name. It was love at first sight...

Considering the size of the bag and quality, the price is very fair. These days most are made in China, and are priced similarly. It's nice to know there are still companies that care about craftsmanship, fair wages, and decent working conditions.

Capitalism doesn't have to preclude Altruism.

5 Looks I Never Want to See Again

In the New York Times, women's sports section, there was a piece called, "10 Looks We Never Want to See Again". 5 were contributed by Cathy Horyn, and 5 were contributed by Eric Wilson. A couple of them are ridiculous.

Exhibit A from Cathy Horyn

What she calls, Hedgerow Brows

If you've got them and like them, flaunt them.

Exhibit B from Eric Wilson

Trapper Hats

Trapper hats are forever. Anything that works so well is a classic.

It got me thinking about what I never want to see again. Here's my list.

1. Faux Worn In Jeans

Current/Elliott
The Roller low-rise cropped jeans
$220

and

PRPS HEIRLOOM
Boyfriend jeans
farfetch from AMERICAN RAG, LOS ANGELES
$210

Live Large and you will make your own masterpiece.

2. Bare Legs (when It's 20∘F)
+
WHEN

For the love of Krom, put some tights or leggings on and wear shoes that cover your toes.

3. Liquor as Accessory

Pregame and Afterparty are words for a reason.

4. Meat Ensemble

I want to be able to ask, "Where's the beef"?

5. Green Nail Polish

Far worse than a man repeller, a people repeller.

Anything you never want to see again?

What's good for the Boys is good for the Barbies.

ReKrommendation: Always look for the best price of a brand name product by googling it, and checking amazon.com.

For example, I just googled, "Belstaff Shannon Boot", and this is one of many items that came up:

Belstaff Shannon brushed suede boots
Was $600, Now $420
