I'm a Little Disappointed in Kenneth Jay Lane

When I received my Saks Fifth Avenue catalog, I was very surprised when I turned to this page and saw the Kenneth Jay Lane offerings. The necklace on the top of the page I thought was stunning. But then the other two necklaces on the page were irksome. All I could think of when I saw the braided necklace was the collaboration between Vera Wang and Philip Crangi shown below.

Vera Wang, $2,850

And the necklace on the right of the page screamed Tom Binns. I guess if you're not going to be original you might as well copy geniuses.

Tom Binns at Intermix

Kenneth Jay Lane's Vera Wang necklace is only $400, but that's still a lot of dough for a knockoff. And the Tom Binns necklace by Kenneth Jay Lane is $615 which is not a bargain compared to the price of the original.

Well for Kenneth Jay Lane, his product seems to be about the bottom line and not artistry, creativity, and respect.
